Overview
ShoutTrack is a music quiz app for Apple TV. We are committed to keeping the product simple and privacy-conscious.
Data Collection
Classic and Turbo quizzes do not collect, store, or transmit personal data to external servers. Tap Quiz sends the minimum needed for phones to play, described below. The app does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking.
Data Stored on Device
To make repeat sessions smoother, ShoutTrack stores some gameplay information locally on your Apple TV.
- Game settings such as team names, round count, clip length, and artwork reveal preferences.
- Song history used to reduce repeats inside packs.
- Scores and recent game results stored locally for in-app use.
This information stays on your device.
Apple Music Previews
ShoutTrack uses Apple Music preview clips through MusicKit to power quiz rounds.
- The app searches the Apple Music catalog to find songs for packs and rounds.
- Only preview clips are used. Full-track playback is not required.
- An Apple Music subscription is not required for preview-based gameplay.
- The app does not access your listening history or personal recommendations. If you import a playlist (Premium), the app lists your Apple Music library playlists, with your permission, so you can pick one, and keeps the imported playlist on your Apple TV.
Tap Quiz (play from your phone)
When the host starts a Tap Quiz, the Apple TV opens a game room on our backend (Convex) so phones can join at shouttrack.app/play. For that mode, and only that mode, the following is sent to the server:
- A 4-letter room code and the nickname each player types in.
- Each tap: the chosen answer, whether it was right, and how fast it came.
- The resulting scores for the room.
No account, email, phone number or device identifier is collected. Rooms and everything in them are deleted automatically within 6 hours of the last activity. The phone page keeps a small token in your browser so a reload rejoins the same game; it is removed when you leave.
Third-Party Services
The app accesses Apple Music through MusicKit and, for Tap Quiz only, Convex (convex.dev) to host game rooms. Apple’s privacy terms apply to Apple Music. Convex stores Tap Quiz rooms on our behalf, only as described above.
Children's Privacy
ShoutTrack does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Classic and Turbo quizzes send nothing to our servers. In Tap Quiz, a player only sends the nickname they type and their answers, and the room is deleted within 6 hours of the last activity.
Terms and Availability
ShoutTrack is provided as-is. Song availability may vary by region depending on Apple Music catalog coverage and preview availability.
Use of the app is also subject to Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new revision date.
